The building was constructed in accordance with the United States Green Building Council’s LEED standards. Fewer than 400 projects have achieved some level of LEED Certification; currently, nine of these projects are located in Atlanta, Ga. The attraction was constructed on a previously developed industrial site in Atlanta, spurring additional downtown development and renewal.

  • Southface Eco-Office
The new Eco Office of Southface Energy Institute, an Atlanta, Ga.-based organization focused on promoting sustainable development, is designed to be the region’s most prominent “green” building. Currently under construction, the building’s extensive use of concrete on various sections showcases the benefits of concrete solutions in sustainable development and demonstrates the versatility of the world’s most widely-used building material. Amenities include: ICF wall system, use of pervious concrete on sidewalks and similar hardscape around the exterior of the building, a green roof, and use of recycled materials in the concrete portions of the office. The Eco Office will serve as a training facility and resource to educate builders about green building and LEED certification.

  • Atlantic Station
Atlantic Station is a national model for smart growth and sustainable development. The community has unsurpassed architectural quality and offers an attractive mix of affordable, middle-income, and up-scale housing combined with world-class restaurants, theaters, and retailers. Providing homes for 10,000 people and employment opportunities for 30,000, the 24-hour community buzzes with pedestrian traffic on its wide boulevards and the crowds of people in the sidewalk cafes and parks. Atlantic Station aspires to provide a national model for “Green” building design and construction, with a goal of building 100% of the commercial buildings in conformity with LEED standards. The 500,000 Sq Ft. Class A office tower is the first LEED certified high rise office tower in the Southeast.
