NYSERDA Awarded 2017 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year - Sustained Excellence Award

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has been selected for the 2017 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year - Sustained Excellence Award. This is the twelfth consecutive year NYSERDA has earned this honor for its continued leadership in protecting the environment through energy efficiency achievements. NYSERDA’s accomplishments will be recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy on April 26, 2017 in Washington, D.C.

NYSERDA is receiving the award for its commitment to increasing awareness and demand for the installation and implementation of energy efficiency services, ENERGY STAR products and advanced technologies. In 2016, the combined savings from NYSERDA’s New Construction, Home Performance with ENERGY STAR, and Qualifying Products programs—just three of the state agency’s initiatives in its diversified energy efficiency and clean energy portfolio—saved New York more than 11 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity and 428 thousand million metric British thermal units (MMBtu) of fossil fuels. The reduced demand would be enough power to meet the annual electric needs of 1,800 homes.

“NYSERDA is proud to be recognized again with the ENERGY STAR Partner award and is grateful for our partnership with ENERGY STAR,” said John B. Rhodes, President and CEO, NYSERDA. “Energy efficiency is an essential component, along with renewable energy, in achieving Governor Cuomo’s ambitious energy goals in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and fighting climate change.”
