NASEO Provides Comments to EIA on Data Collection and Analysis

NASEO and the Northeast-Midwest Institute provided detailed written comments on their use of and reliance on the U.S. Energy Information Administration's (EIA) state-level data collection and reporting. The comments stressed the value of EIA's work, but made specific recommendations for additions and improvement that could be achieved with additional funding for the agency.  To access the comments, click here.

Bingaman Suggests Bipartisan Approach to Energy Issues

Senator Jeff Bingaman (NM), Chairman of the Senate Energy Committee, issued a statement on a non-partisan approach to energy policy on October 30, 2008.  The statement talked about, among other things, the need to expand deployment.  Senator Bingaman said, "We must work harder on the deployment of new energy technologies of all kinds.  Particularly with the growing concern about global warming, we need to make sure that we develop and deploy a new generation of clean, low-carbon energy technologies."  To access the complete statement please click here.

Information Request from the Wisconsin Office of Energy Independence

The Wisconsin Office of Energy Independence has the following information request for state energy offices: Do any states incorporate passive solar energy into their estimates for the amount of renewable energy used in the state? Passive solar in this context includes daylighting in all residential and commercial buildings, not just in those buildings specifically designed to incorporate daylighting to impact conventional energy use. The question applies to those estimates used internally and/or for publication.  Please provide any responses you may have to David Jenkins at DavidJ.Jenkins@Wisconsin.gov.
