Energy and Climate a Priority in President-Elect Obama’s Transition

The presidential transition continues to dominate headlines in Washington and around the country, with energy and climate policy a clear priority for the new administration.  The President-elect outlines broad energy goals on the official transition website.  The Presidential Climate Action Project, an initiative comprising a broad group of energy and environmental leaders, also released a plan for the review of the incoming president’s team.  In addition, the Center for American Progress has released “A Strategy for Green Recovery” for economic stimulus activities that would involve major investment in state energy activities.  NASEO will continue to keep its membership informed of legislation and executive appointments and actions of particular interest and appreciates feedback on its transition activities.  The NASEO Board of Directors has invited the transition team to its meeting on December 4th.  For more information, please contact the NASEO staff at 703-299-8800 or bdeitchman@naseo.org.

NASEO Energy Outlook 2009

This year's winter meeting – NASEO's Energy Outlook 2009 – will be held on February 1-4, 2009, in Washington, DC.  Plans for the conference are underway as Washington prepares for the arrival of a new Administration and Congress.  A preliminary agenda will be available shortly, including sessions with new energy and environmental leaders, news on the priorities of the Obama Administration and Congress, and discussions about the calls for unprecedented federal energy funding increases in both existing initiatives and programs such as the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program.  We are planning extended break-out committee meetings on buildings, electricity, and industrial efficiency, with focused discussion among the State and Territory Energy Offices and our partners.  We will also continue the tradition of holding our meeting in conjunction with the ASERTTI winter meeting to facilitate attendees taking advantage of both events.  For more information contact Shemika Spencer or visit the events page Meeting registration and hotel registration are already open.
