NAIMA Names New President and CEO

Kate Offringa has been appointed President and CEO of the North American Insulation Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) succeeding Ken Mentzer who led the organization for 30 years.  Ms Offringa's appointment became effective September 1, 2009.  Since June, she had held the position of interim President and CEO, while continuing to serve as NAIMA's Vice President of Public Affairs.  For the full press release, please click here.

Waste to Energy Opportunities in Wastewater Treatment Facilities utilizing Anaerobic Digester and CHP Concepts and Technologies Webinar

The National Association of State Energy Offices (NASEO), in conjunction with the Association of State Energy Research and Technology Transfer Institutions (ASERTTI) and the U.S. EPA Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Partnership, invites the State Energy Offices to participate in a 90 minute webinar on energy efficiency opportunities available for wastewater treatment facilities (WWTF) utilizing the generated biogas from the wastewater treatment process through anaerobic digesters.  The webinar will take place on September 22, 2009 at 1:00 PM Central.  Please click here fore more information and to register for the event. 

New CSEM Working Paper: Doing Well by Doing Good? Green Office Buildings

The Center for the Study of Energy Markets (CSEM) recently released "Doing Well by Doing Good? Green Office Buildings" as part of their Working Paper Series.  CSEM is a program of the University of California Energy Institute, a multi-campus research unit of the University of California located on the Berkeley campus.  The paper provides evidence on the economic value of the certification of "green buildings" – value derived from impersonal market transactions rather than engineering estimates.  Please click here to link directly to the study. 

ASERTTI Fall Meeting: Exploring California's Energy Strategies

Please mark your calendars for the fall 2009 ASERTTI meeting, which will be held October 5-7, 2009 in Palo Alto, California.  Hosted by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and the California Energy Commission (CEC), this year's fall meeting will include a presentation on the California Climate Change Strategy and several discussion panels cover such topics as Energy Efficiency Successes, Challenges, Plans for the Future and Renewable Energy Barriers and Solutions.  Other topics that will be addressed at the meeting include transportation, smart grid and nuclear energy.  Please click here to link directly to the ASERTTI fall meeting page for additional agenda and registration information.
