Subject: Energy Star Task Force Meeting - 9/17/02 - 4:45 - 5:30 p.m.

This note is a reminder that we have the first formal meeting of the Energy Star Task Force during the NASEO Annual Meeting. It is scheduled for 45 minutes from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m., September 17. The names listed above are the individuals we believe volunteered to participate. As with all NASEO committees and task forces, this activity is open to all members. Please note that the task force is under (reports to) the NASEO Buildings Committee. If we missed anyone, we apologize in advance.

As you know, the NASEO Annual Meeting next week has an Energy Star “theme”. In coordination with NASEO staff we are attempting to develop ways to promote the use of Energy Star labels and programs among the states, while recognizing the importance of individual state differences. We hope this task force can provide a vehicle for interfacing with EPA and DOE on Energy Star initiatives as well as to share good ideas on what works.

A proposed agenda is noted below (highly flexible):

  1. Introduction
  2. Goals
  3. Individual issues.
    1. Key state needs and opportunities for “whole buildings” programs
    2. Technical Assistance in integrating Energy Star promotions and tools
    3. Coordination required with regional market transformation organizations
    4. Coordination with manufacturers, homebuilders and retailers to develop enhanced state-business cooperation
    5. Coordination with Rebuild America
    6. Execution of Energy Star Partnership Agreements between states and EPA and between NASEO and EPA
  4. Plans for Next Steps/Meetings
    1. NASEO February Meeting (possible ½ day before)
    2. Meeting with regional market transformation groups
    3. Meeting with Alliance to Save Energy
    4. Regional Office participation (e.g., Albuquerque, NM - 11/19/02)
