Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program
Home Performance with ENERGY STAR is an innovative residential “whole
house” program designed to improve the energy efficiency of existing homes
using local contractors who both evaluate efficiency standards and
implement improvements. The goal of the program is to reduce energy use
within the existing housing stock—up to 30 percent or more with a
whole-house retrofit executed by a certified contractor.
States and Local government entities partnering with the Home Performance
with Energy Star Program to date are:
- Austin, Texas (Austin Energy)
- California Building Performance Association
- Kansas City, Missouri (Metropolitan Energy Center)
- New York State Energy Research and Development Authority
- Wisconsin Focus on Energy
The ENERGY STAR program has also embarked on a series of pilot programs
with the following states: Georgia/Alabama, Idaho, Missouri and New
Jersey. The program will also be piloted in the city of Austin, Texas.
Each partner has customized the program to meet the needs of their
individual state or locality. All program participants co-brand with the
Home Performance with ENERGY STAR marketing materials, and work to extend
this marketing and program support to program contractors.
