NASEO held a webinar to showcase live demonstrations of two new online tools developed by the U.S. Department of Energy, the Argonne National Laboratory, and their partners. The first tool is the Eastern Interconnection States Planning Council's EZ Mapping Tool, a web-based decision support system that allows users to locate areas with high suitability for clean power generation in Eastern Interconnect. The second tool is the Free Energy Data (FRED) online resource, a new open platform intended to help users effectively visualize, analyze, and compare energy-use data and make better informed energy decisions. Accessible and accurate data is critical to the operations of a State Energy Office, especially in the context of energy planning and resource deployment.
