Geologic hydrogen, which includes both naturally occurring and stimulated hydrogen, is gaining traction as a potential primary source of clean, firm energy. Although additional research and exploration is needed to determine the most viable locations for extraction, a recent United States Geological Survey map suggests that geologic hydrogen could exist in significant quantities in several regions of the U.S. To help State and Territory Energy Offices understand the opportunities and challenges associated with geologic hydrogen, NASEO is organizing a preliminary conversation to: 1) provide an overview of the resource and findings from mapping and exploration efforts to date; 2) discuss how State Energy Offices may be able to support this emerging technology; and 3) identify the types of resources states need moving forward. All State and Territory Energy Offices are welcome to join. Please reach out to Kelsey Jones (kjones@naseo.org) or Grace Lowe (glowe@naseo.org) with any questions or to be added to the calendar invitation.
