Kathleen Hogan, Deputy Assistant Secretary for DOE, Receives Career Achievement Medal

Kathleen Hogan, Deputy Assistant Secretary for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently received the Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medal, otherwise known as the “Sammies.”  Specifically, Dr. Hogan was honored with the Career Achievement Medal.  In the past two decades in government, Dr. Hogan has overseen a number of pivotal national energy-efficiency initiatives and new standards that will lead to 3 billion fewer tons of carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and save taxpayers a half-trillion dollars.

She has also made an indelible mark on many programs, including the Weatherization Assistance Program, the Better Buildings Challenge and the Energy Star program. Her skills as a subject matter expert, negotiator and savvy manager contributed greatly to the success of these efforts.

She is one of eight receipients to receive a Sammie this year.
