Mississippi Governor Signs Multiple Energy Bills

In late April, Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant signed into law several energy bills recently passed by the state legislature. Mississippi adopted American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) 90.1-2010 as the standard for all commercial buildings (HB1281) and public facilities (HB1266) in the state. To support implementation of Governor Bryant's "Energy Works: Mississippi's Energy Roadmap," the legislature passed the Mississippi Energy Sustainability and Development Act (HB1296), which outlines the Mississippi Development Authority's role in tracking energy resources and consumption and supporting energy efficiency within state agencies.
