FERC Terminates DOE NOPR Proceeding and Initiates New Proceeding

On January 8, 2018, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) terminated the proceeding on a notice of proposed rule-making (NOPR) issued by U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Rick Perry to review grid reliability and resilience pricing.  Recognizing Secretary Perry’s priority on reinforcing grid resiliency, FERC has initiated a new proceeding to holistically examine the resilience of the bulk power system.  In addition to developing a common understanding of the requirements for maintaining a resilient bulk power system, this proceeding will examine how regional market operators assess resilience in order to inform future FERC action in this area.
