The Colorado Energy Office announced the Community Access Enterprise Board to support widespread adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), manage financial incentives to encourage the use of EVs, and equitably invest in new infrastructure.
The Board oversees one of three state enterprises created by SB21-260, signed by Governor Polis in June 2021. The bill aims to modernize and electrify Colorado’s transportation sector, reduce the environmental and health impacts of the transportation system, and achieve state targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent of 2005 levels by 2030. The Colorado Department of Transportation will house the Clean Transit Enterprise, and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment will house the Clean Fleet Enterprise.
The Community Access Enterprise Board has seven appointed members: leaders from the three state agencies, New Hope Baptist Church, Ford Motor Company, Clean Energy Economy for the Region, and Motiv Power Systems. Over the first decade, this new enterprise is expected to receive over $300 million to support new infrastructure and low and moderate income adoption of EVs and electric bicycles.
