On September 7, 2022, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) launched a program requiring energy and water benchmarking for every commercial building over 25,000 square feet. Building owners will utilize the Environmental Protection Agency’s Portfolio Manager to measure energy and water use and compare it to other buildings. The benchmarking requirement was initially established in the 2018 New Jersey Clean Energy Act. NJBPU will establish a help desk to aid building owners in the process. 2022 compliance is due by October 1, 2023. Additional information is available here
