New Mini Guide on Transportation Electrification Planning Released

State agencies are in a critical position to support the national effort to build a reliable and accessible Electric Vehicle (EV) charging network. With additional funding opportunities made available through the Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act (IIJA) and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), State Energy Offices, Public Utility Commissions (PUCs), Departments of Transportation (DOTs), and other important state-level partners have a unique and vital role to support EV rollout. This Mini Guide on Transportation Electrification was prepared by the National Council on Electricity Policy and authored by the National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO), the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). It outlines the state agencies’ roles and provides recommendations for state agencies to coordinate on EV infrastructure planning and implementation based on interviews with State Energy Office, DOT, and PUC officials.
