U.S. Senate Confirms DOE-OE Assistant Secretary

On December 21, 2022, the U.S. Senate confirmed Gene Rodrigues by voice vote to serve as Assistant Secretary for Electricity at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). NASEO supported Assistant Secretary Rodrigues appointment and confirmation in a September 2022 letter to Senate leadership.  Mr. Rodrigues arrives at the DOE Office of Electricity (OE) with more than 30 years of experience in the field, along with national recognition as an expert in clean energy policy and programs. He previously held a position at ICF as Vice President of Market Development in the Energy, Environment, and Infrastructure practice. Prior to joining ICF, Rodrigues collected 23 years of industry experience at Southern California Edison, one of the nation’s largest electric utilities, where he represented the company in regulatory proceedings and held leadership positions, which helped to ensure the provision of affordable, reliable, and resilient electric service for over 15 million people in Southern California.
