The U.S Department of Energy (DOE) announced on May 23, 2023, that four states (Louisiana, New Mexico, North Dakota, and South Carolina) and two Tribal nations were selected to receive the first round of funding from the Grid Resilience State and Tribal Formula Grants, totaling $50 million. Supported by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) Section 40101(d) and administered by DOE’s Grid Deployment Office, the Grid Resilience State and Tribal Formula Grants will help to modernize the electric grid to reduce impacts due to extreme weather and natural disaster and ensure the reliability of the power sector’s infrastructure. NASEO continues to support State Energy Offices in the implementation of Section 40101(d) and grid resilience funding. For questions, please contact Kirsten Verclas at kverclas@naseo.org.
