Late each summer, Minnesotans gather at the State Fair to enjoy live music, eat, drink, mingle, and thanks to MN’s State Energy Office, they also learn about energy efficiency. That’s because the MN State Energy Office hosts the ‘Energy Information Center’ exhibit at State Fair’s Eco Experience. More than 200,000 Minnesotans attend the Eco Experience during the 12-days of the MN State Fair.
The Eco Experience is the largest environmental event of its kind, nationally. It is designed to inspire people to lead more sustainable lives while improving quality of life and the environment. It highlights renewable energy and exhibits on air, water, land green buildings, organic agriculture and local foods.
The Energy Information Center exhibit connects Minnesotans to a wide range of energy conservation, efficiency, and cost saving resources. Specifically:
- Rebates and incentives – ways to stack federal, state, local and utility opportunities
- Energy affordability – learn to read your utility bill and about the state’s energy assistance and weatherization programs
- Energy careers and workforce – explore opportunities in traditional energy and clean energy jobs
As a result of this public engagement effort:
- Minnesotans will make more informed energy decisions for their homes, apartments, businesses, farms, and communities.
- More Minnesotans will receive the benefits from state and federal programs, rebates and tax incentives for energy improvements upgrades and cost savings.
The MN State Energy Office resides within the Division of Energy Resources at the Minnesota Department of Commerce.
