Through the United States v. Volkswagen Group of America et al., Volkswagen AG has agreed to spend $14.9 billion to settle allegations of cheating emissions standards. Of that amount, $2 billion is being spent on national zero emission vehicle investments, and $2.9 billion is being used to establish an Environmental Mitigation Trust, which states and territories may use to invest in transportation projects that will reduce NOx emissions.

NASEO & NACAA Volkswagen Settlement Working Group

The National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO) and National Association of Clean Air Agencies (NACAA) convene the Volkswagen (VW) Settlement Working Group to enable state-to-state communication on the VW settlement's Environmental Mitigation Trust. The VW Working Group facilitates monthly calls with State Energy Offices, Air Agencies, and other state leads to address pressing questions related to the settlement, allow peer-to-peer networking and information sharing, and explore potential multi-state activities under the Environmental Mitigation Trust.

The VW Working Group meets virtually on a quarterly basis.  If you are a state or local agency and would like to join the Working Group, please contact Delaney Dixon (ddixon@naseo.org).
